The Highland Foodbank
Blythswood has initiated a 'Highland Foodbank' which is designed to meet the immediate needs of individuals and families in distress. Blythswood stores food supplies which are given free to needy situations.
The local churches make a significant contribution to the Foodbank, and Blythswood gives guidance on what we should give in order to avoid an imbalance of food types available.
For example, in order to ensure that a more-or-less equal number of items on the Foodbank 'shopping list' was collected, Blythswood asked Castle Street Church to concentrate on specific items at our Harvest Thanksgiving.
In March/April 2009, we were specifically asked to give Breakfast Cereal. Over 143 kilograms have been donated.
If you want to contribute more foodstuffs to the Foodbank, then contact Blythswood directly, or drop them into the permanent Blythswood box in the entrance to the Church. |
